Welcome to E-Light
International Research Program IRP France Taiwan 2024-2028
e-LIGHT : New Semiconductor Devices for IoT Era From light-assisted processes for fabrication and integration to applications in opto-electronics

E-Light is an International Research Project (IRP) supported by CNRS (France) and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU, Taiwan). It brings together leading research teams in nanophotonics, plasmonics, photoactive materials, and light–matter interactions.
Launched in 2024, the E-Light project builds on more than 15 years of collaboration between French and Taiwanese scientists. Its aim is to explore and develop light-driven materials and fabrication processes for the next generation of sensors, photonic devices, and smart materials.
The project covers a wide range of applications — from non-invasive health monitoring and sports performance tracking to environmental sensing — by designing functional materials that respond to or are shaped by light.
What We Do
-
Develop hybrid materials using laser-assisted processing techniques
-
Design innovative sensor architectures on flexible or unconventional substrates
-
Combine sol-gel chemistry, plasmonic effects, and nano-optics
-
Promote joint researcher mobility, PhD training, and knowledge exchange
A Bilateral Scientific Platform
E-Light is also a platform for international collaboration, bringing together complementary strengths:
- IS2M / CNRS / Université de Haute-Alsace (France): expertise in photochemistry, near-field optics, sol-gel nanomaterials
- NYCU / Department of Photonics (Taiwan): expertise in device fabrication, organic electronics, gas sensing and biomedical applications
Together, we work to co-create knowledge, train the next generation of researchers, and develop technologies that meet tomorrow’s societal and industrial needs.
